７月22日に遠足で嵐山のモンキーパークに行きました。今度は短期生だではなく、サマーコースの学生と７月から勉強している長期生も参加しました。全員で３７人の大人数だったので、非常に楽しかったです。暑かったですがみんなはジュース等をたくさん飲んだり、アイスクリーム食べたりしましたので暑くて立ち止まったりせず、スムーズに進みました。

　最初にモンキーパークに行って、山に登りましたが、山の上に近づくと急に色々な猿が現れました。また、山の上からとても綺麗な京都市の景色が見えました。山の上の休憩所に入って、猿に餌をやり、グループ写真を撮ってから山を下りました。その後、アイスクリームの店で休憩して、嵐山で散歩をして帰りました。猿たちと遊べて、自分とは違う国から日本へ来て、初めて会った人と遊ぶ機会があってとてもいい経験になったでしょう。

Storm Mountain, Monkey Park

On the July 22^nd the students made a trip to a monkey park located in the Arashiyama district of Kyoto.

This time not only the short term students but also the summer course students and the July students participated. It was a group of total 37 persons so it was a very big group of people and this made it very fun and interesting. It was very hot but everybody drank a lot of juice and soft drinks and ate ice cream so there were no problems with the heat.

We went to the monkey park first, climbed the mountain and in the end various monkeys appeared. There was a beautiful view of Kyoto city from the top of the mountain. Everybody went inside a building to feed the monkeys. An employee was kind enough to take a group picture and afterwards everybody descended the mountain.  We had a rest at an ice cream store, walked around the Arashiyama area and returned home. It was a great experience for everybody to see the monkeys and to get to know other students from various countries.

開催講座は毎週、火曜日、土曜日、日曜日の各１クラスづつ計３クラス開催します。

　短期生のクラスは、この夏もいろいろな校外活動に出かけます。８月にはビール工場見学、扇子作り、万華鏡作りなどが予定されています。暑い８月に冷たいビール。自分の作った扇子であおぎながら涼むこともできます。日差しをうけてきれいに回る万華鏡を見るのもいいですね。新しい体験と発見が日本語の上達にもつながるのではないでしょうか。

Extracurricular activities in the summer

The short-term students have various excursions during this summer. In august, they will go on a field trip to a beer factory, they will make a folding fan and a kaleidoscope amongst others. The students can cool down by using their self made fan and drinking cold beer during this hot period. It's also nice to look in a kaleidoscope while catching some sunlight. We believe it will also improve the students' Japanese language skills if they have all kinds of new experiences and discoveries.

　今年は７月に入学する長期生もいて、４月生が夏休みの間でも学校はにぎやかです。７月になり、暑さが増してきましたが、学生たちのやる気と熱気も外の暑さに負けていません。

　８月になって夏休みが終わり、先輩たちと会うのも楽しみでしょう。また、たくさんの学校行事や京都のイベントに参加して、早く日本の生活に慣れていってほしいです。

Kyoto Minsai is also very lively during the summer vacation of the April students because for the first time in the history of the school there are long-term students that started studying in July. Although it is getting hotter in July, the students' motivation and enthusiasm beats the weather.

They are also looking forward to meet their seniors when the summer vacation is over in August. We hope the July students get used to the life in Japan very quick by participating in a lot of events that occur at school or in Kyoto.

　７月はお祭り見学などのイベントもありますが、進学に関するいろいろな説明会やテストも多くあります。現在、進学コースの学生たちのクラスでは、定期試験が行われています。また、今年大学や大学院の受験を考えている学生の何人かは、７月４日に日本語能力試験を受けました。７月１２日には、学内進学説明会を行う予定です。

　テストでいい点数がとれるように、お祭り見学や課外活動などのイベントが無事に楽しくできるように、少し早いですが短冊を作ってお願いしておこうと思います。

　尚、通常授業は７月１６日から８月１６日まで夏休みになりますが、７月生の入学、サマーコースなどもあるのでお盆以外はいろいろな授業や課外活動を行っています。

Events in July

There are various field trips to festivals, all kinds of information sessions and tests related to future studies in July.The foundation course students have periodical exams at the moment.

Also, several students that are thinking about entering university or graduate school have taken the Japanese Language Proficciency Test (JLPT) on the 4th of July. There is a future study information session at our school on the 12th of July

Maybe it's a bit fast but the staff of Minsai is thinking about writing wishes on a small piece of paper so that the students will have good results and that all the fieldtrips to festivals and excursions are fun and pass without any problems.

In addition, the long term students have summer vacation from the 16th of July until the 16th of August, but there are classes and field trips for short term students, participants of the summer course and students that started studying in July with the exeption of Obon festival when the school is closed.
